Scenic 90 Café -
Pensacola, FL
- 433-8844
$5.99 Cheeseburger
Final Score: 7.00Map
The Scenic 90 Café is a TRUE American Diner. Their breakfast is amazing, the milkshakes top notch and the atmosphere is great- but what about their Burgers?
Their “All American Burger” is a large patty that seems to be hand made on a soft bun with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and pickles. The patty is cooked to order- and many commented that their Burger was cooked perfectly. The only negative was that several thought the burger to be under-seasoned or tasteless.
The produce was fresh and the bun was nice- but none of this seemed to make up for the fact that the Burger had little taste.
In all- the Burger finished with a Final Score of 7. So, while we’d highly recommend the Scenic 90 Café for breakfast- We’d have to tell you that their burger is “good” but “not great.”
So, if you love Diners (Yes Alternate,
people DO love Diners) hit the Scenic 90 Café in Pensacola. If you’re

Times Grill -
Pensacola, FL
- 478-0139
$9.00 Cheeseburger
Final Score: 7.36Map
You can’t help but drool as you look over the Times Grill menu. They’ll put just about anything on a burger; 7 different cheeses, bacon, mushrooms, jalapenos, chili… anything you want.
Sadly, we didn’t order a Burger with any of these magical toppings. This Tour is about finding a Burger that can stand on its own- a Burger that tastes great without the help of feta crumbles or sautéed mushrooms. That being the case, we ordered the original Times Burger with American Cheese.*
As we remembered from last year’s visit to the Times Grill- these Burgers are served with entirely too much bread. The bun is really more of a bulkie roll- thick and dry. Most panel Members tore off large parts of the bun, while one managed to cleverly cut the top of the bun directly in half.
The produce was average- tomatoes and shredded lettuce (no onion.)
The patty was the most enjoyable part of the Burger. A large ½ lb. patty that seemed to be hand formed and seasoned nicely. Some complained that their Burger was overcooked- couple that with the thick bulkie roll- and you’ve got one dry burger on your hands.
In all, the Burger finished with a final score of 7.36. It was similar to the type of burger you’d expect from a National Chain (Chili’s or Applebee’s.)
If you’re looking for endless ways to top your Burger, or amazing sweet potato fries- give this place a shot. If you’re looking for the absolute best Burger in our Area- come back next week as the Tour rolls on…
*If necessary, take a moment to familiarize yourself with our strict regulations on the “Rules” tab.
One
of the specialty Burgers from the Times Grill might have scored much
higher- but we’re performing a scientific experiment here- it’s
critical that we compare apples to apples- everywhere we go.

Jerry’s Cajun Café -
Pensacola, FL
- 484-6962
$9.00 Cheeseburger
Final Score: 5.77Map
If you woke up on the porch at Jerry’s Cajun Café- you’d swear you were in the Big Easy. The place is completely filled with New Orleans sports memorabilia, and the authentic Cajun cuisine is outstanding. Their burger however; not so much.
The Burger is served “Po Boy Style” on a great New Orleans style baguette. Sadly, the Burger can only be served well done- and that hurt it in the scoring. The Burger would really be better described as a “Meatloaf Po Boy.” Sure the produce was good, the baguette was nice, but the Burger portion of the sandwich was really a slice of Cajun meatloaf.
One Judge commented “I would have rather had shrimp on my Po Boy.” That one comment summarized the feelings of the entire group. So, if you’re looking for some of Pensacola’s best Cajun cuisine- Hit Jerry’s Cajun.

McGuire’s Irish Pub - Pensacola, FL
- 433-6789
$9.99 Cheddar Steak Burger
Final Score: 7.78Map
The bagpipes were amazing, the house root beer was top notch, and the Burger? It was good. Several agreed that the patty (a ¾ lb. char grilled monster) was the best patty we’ve had on the Tour thus far. It was well seasoned and cooked perfectly- the patty was the best thing this Burger had going for it. Sadly, it was topped with some of the worst produce we’ve seen to date on the Tour. Most removed the tomato all together, while others commented that it should have never been placed on a Burger. The Bun was good- though a bit bulky for some of our Panel Members.
Despite the sub-par produce, and bulky Bun- this Burger still finished with a nice score. That’s a testament to just how good this patty is.
The Final Score of 7.78 will
put this Burger in the Top 3 for the time being- but that could all
change next week- as we visit our next stop on the Northwest Florida
Burger Tour.
